This safety information applies to all electric scooters, electric bikes, replacement batteries, spare parts and accessories sold by Scooter Bike Hub. All products meet relevant Australian electrical, mechanical and micromobility safety standards under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL). Failure to follow all safety instructions may result in fire, electric shock, serious personal injury or death, and will void your product warranty.
1. Pre-Ride Safety Checks
Complete the following inspections every time before riding:
- Check battery condition: No swelling, cracks, leakage, deformation or strange odours. Stop use immediately if any defect is found.
- Brake system test: Ensure front and rear brakes respond smoothly and stop the vehicle reliably.
- Tyre inspection: Check tyre pressure, no cracks, punctures or excessive wear.
- Handlebar & frame: Confirm all screws, bolts and folding locks are fully tightened. Loose components cause loss of control.
- Lights & reflectors: Front white light, rear red light and side reflectors work normally for low-light riding.
- Throttle/pedal assist: Ensure power output returns to zero once you release the accelerator.
Do not ride if any component fails the above inspection. Contact our support team for maintenance before use.
2. Riding Safety Rules
- Always wear an approved Australian standard bicycle helmet while riding on public paths or roads. Elbow, knee and wrist protective gear is strongly recommended.
- Observe local state/territory speed limits and road rules listed in our State/Territory Usage Notice. Never exceed legal speed limits.
- Do not carry passengers, children, pets or heavy oversized goods on your electric scooter or e-bike.
- Avoid riding on slippery, muddy, icy, uneven or steep dangerous terrain.
- Do not ride in heavy thunderstorms, flood water or deep puddles for long periods. While products have water resistance ratings, prolonged water exposure causes internal short circuits.
- Stay alert to pedestrians, cars and other cyclists. Slow down when passing footpaths, intersections and driveways.
- Do not operate the vehicle while using mobile phones, headphones or other distracting devices.
- Do not ride under the influence of alcohol, drugs or fatigue.
3. Weight & Load Limits
Each model has a stated maximum user weight limit.
- Do not exceed the maximum load capacity printed on your product frame or manual.
- Overloading strains the motor, battery, brakes and frame, leading to overheating, frame fracture or brake failure.
- Do not attach unapproved heavy racks, baskets or aftermarket cargo accessories that alter vehicle balance.
4. Prohibited Modifications
Any unauthorised modification will immediately void all warranty coverage and create severe safety risks:
- Modifying motor power, controller firmware, speed limit or voltage output.
- Replacing original parts with non-certified third-party motors, batteries or wiring harnesses.
- Cutting, drilling, welding or altering the original vehicle frame, folding structure or brake system.
- Removing safety limiters, fenders, lights or protective casings.
- Adding extra batteries to increase voltage or extend range without professional certified installation.
Only original replacement parts sold by Scooter Bike Hub can be used for repairs. All service work must be completed by our authorised technicians.
5. Age Restrictions
- Electric scooters: Minimum 16 years old for independent public road riding. Children under 16 may only use the device on fully enclosed private property with full adult supervision.
- E-bikes: Children under 12 are not permitted to ride on public footpaths or roads.
Adults must supervise minors at all times to prevent falls, collisions or accidental injury.
6. Mechanical & Electrical Safety
- Keep all electrical ports, wiring and battery compartments dry and free of sand, mud or metal debris to avoid short circuits.
- Do not touch internal wiring or circuit boards while the battery is connected.
- Turn off the power switch when the vehicle is not in use for long periods.
- Stop riding immediately if you notice unusual noise, burning smell, sudden power cut or abnormal vibration. Do not restart the vehicle before inspection.
- Regular maintenance: Tighten loose bolts every 2–4 weeks; check brake pad wear monthly.
7. Fire & Injury Risk Warning
- Lithium-ion batteries carry fire risk if damaged, mischarged or modified. Refer to our separate Battery Safety Guide for full charging, storage and emergency handling rules.
- Moving wheels, chains and brake rotors can cause pinching, cuts or abrasions. Keep hands, hair and loose clothing away from moving parts during riding or maintenance.
- High-speed falls may cause fractures, head trauma or permanent injury. Always wear protective equipment.
8. Product Storage Safety
- Store indoors in a dry, cool space away from direct sunlight, heaters, open flames and flammable goods.
- Do not leave vehicles locked inside hot car cabins for hours during summer.
- Lock the vehicle securely to prevent theft and unsupervised use by children.
- For long-term storage over 30 days, follow the battery storage rules in our Battery Safety Guide.
9. Australian Consumer Law Statement
All products comply with Australia’s mandatory safety standards for powered micromobility devices. If your product has a verified manufacturing defect unrelated to misuse, modification or failure to follow safety rules, you are entitled to repair, replacement or refund under the ACL.
We accept no liability for personal injury, property loss or accidents caused by improper riding, unauthorised modification, overloading, ignoring safety warnings or violation of state traffic laws.
